ESOP (Atlante 2)

The ESOP (Atlante 2) cup design is based on our experience with the Atlante 1 metal-back, which has been in used since 2001, combined with current load bearings.

The ESOP (Atlante 2) cup has been specifically designed to provide an interface whose deformability perfectly suit the bone elasticity module, but also allows easy, precise and safe insertion of a ceramic liner.

Indications

The ESOP (Atlante 2) cup is primarily used in:

first intention THP due to coxarthrosis, dysplasia, or polyarthritis...

It can also be used in case of :

acetabular revision

Design

The ESOP (Atlante 2) cup offers surgeons the choice, depending on patients’ age and indications, between:

- a TRIANON® highly cross-linked polyethylene liner
- a ceramic (titanium) ringed liner.

Both liner are compatible with large-diameter heads, to avoid problems with instability or wear.

The ring design, pre-mounted around the ceramic, offers maximum protection to the ceramic liner, in cases of extreme positions, whilst maintaining the clearance and stability required with large-diameter heads.

Product characteristics

The ESOP (Atlante 2) metal-back is made from a TA6V4 titanium alloy. It is coated with a hydroxyapatite external coating, for better secondary fixation. Press-fit achieved through the flared shape and equatorial macrostructures.

The range of cups is available in sizes 46 to 64 mm, in 2 mm increments.

TheESOP (Atlante 2) polyethylene liners are highly cross-linked (TRIANON). This material improves the earing couple to reduce wear, but also enables the use of large head diameters (32mm and 36mm).

The liners are available in 28, 32 and 36mm diameters, in either a flat-edged (Charnley-type) version or a version with a 4mm posterior wall (named PE STANDARD).

The ESOP (Atlante 2) ceramic cup liners are made of Biolox Delta alumina, fitted with a factory-set titanium ring. This offers the possibility of using 32 and 36mm diameter heads, thereby reducing the risk of dislocation. This type of ceramic is known for its fracture-resistance, but also for its hardness, which reduces wear on the liner, ensure its longevity.

The setting of the titanium ring, with its internal groove, facilitates fitting, using a grasper and allows the implant to be perfectly positioned. The titanium ring also allows easy removal, if necessary.

In the event of impingement, the ring will be the first element to come into contact with the neck, thus protecting the ceramic from any conflict in extreme positions.
